How to prepare for a tournament - Part 3 and the end!

So, now that you've picked out your list, (part 1) and played under tournament conditions (part 2) its now time for the final chapter in this series. This is probably one of the more important chapters yet also one of the shortest.

The final and most important part in preparing for a tournament!

The most important thing is setting yourself a reasonable goal to achieve.. sure everyone can lose every game, or try for the best sportsmanship score, but I say shoot for higher. If it's your first tournament ever, don't expect to win the whole thing.. yes I am saying that you are not a beautiful and unique snowflower and everyone's gift to your game. In a game that relies on dice and overall scores to determine a winner, there are people out there that will be better in the environment because they have gone to tournaments before.

So, that in mind, a very easy goal that you can get is to say, I will not place last in this tournament.. A goal that has a better mindset associated to it would be to shoot for the top half of the tournament if it's a larger tournament. that way at the end of the day if you reach that goal then you should feel accomplished that you participated. everything else would be just gravy.

As time progresses your goals can get better and better, Being Best in race (if they have it) getting top half, heck even win the whole thing. this will take time and practice that you can't really simulate.

Just remember at the end of the day the goal at a tournament is to accomplish your goal, to have fun, and to play against others. sure you could shoot for winning the whole thing by becoming the WAAC gamer, but who would want to play you again if you go to that venue again?

So concludes this 3 part series. If you guys like it or want more series or want a more personal individual analysis I would be glad to offer my services...
