So, After playing a 2400 point game today against a very good tomb king light council list, I've decided to not put up a battle report in the pure sense but to leave an in depth unit by unit analysis of how each unit performed in the game and my thoughts on their performance.
Supreme sorceress: She did her job of casting spells.. I totally forgot that I had put a life taker on her til turn 4 and then forgot to use it ever again so I think I'll be replacing it with the pendant in future games..
Cauldron bsb: I kept up the 5+ ward on key units the entire game as I either had enough attacks to obliterate whatever I charged, or couldn't KB the target. It actually saved a few black guard from a str 7 banishment a few times.
Lvl 2 Sorc: She stayed alive, although I am liking fire, I think that Dark magic would have been better against a heavy tomb kings shooting army than the fireballs that I cast.. I'll continue to play with fire tho as the threat of a double fireball actually kept the dispel dice in play.
15 Repeaters, Standard, Musician; They did well despite me being a dumbass and deploying them behind woods.. Shields would have been nice although only 1 time did I need to save on a 5+.. No shields for now for points, although maybe at 2500 points the shields would come back in.
18 Frenzied full command corsairs: Even without any support they managed to chew through most of their points worth, well until they got charged by 5 snake knights with speed of light on them... otherwise they did well.
30 warriors Disc standard, musician, shields: survived the whole game thanks to wards and the numbers. Champ will come back at 2500 points tho as a buffer against things that could charge them.
5 dark riders, Musician repeaters X2: They were excellent chaff and one of them more than doubled their points when they killed a chariot unit and a casket of souls.
5 harpies: They got some fire thrown their way so I say its a win
5 Shades xhw: Sneaky MVPs of the game. They took out a skull catapult and took out a scoring unit near an objective.
18 black guard full command, murder banner: I should have moved them up more aggressivly at the start instead of standing back for a few turns, but they did their job and took out a complete 5 knight unit by themselves... with a little help from mindrazer.
Repeater bolt thrower x2: Very hit or miss.. for a couple of turns of the game they were hitting on 5s because I decided to throw units in front of them like a dumbass. They are staying in because when they hit they were on the money and did wounds that mattered. It was nice to see a game where one bolt thrower wasn't picking up units off the table.
Hydra: Amazing as always, killed a flaming chariot unit and then was the focus of several banishments and burning gazes before he finally went down..
So, What would I change?
Well, for one thing I'm going to take off the lifetaker from the level 4 and put in the pendant on my lvl 4. I forgot to use it for almost all the entire game and wasn't until turn 4 that I remembered I had the damn thing.. It would have helped early in the game, but meh..
Now, the question is, how to take this list and add 100 points to it.. do I add on to more units? do I add in a cheap hero? I dont know, but I have a while to figure that out..
