Mental or just plain crazy! How Effective can the lack of a hydra be?

After the arrival of the first bolt thrower for my dark elves under this new configuration, I've decided to try out something that as a dark elf player might inconceivably be considered blasphemy. I have made a 2400 point list, in a non comped environment, without a hydra.

So, I'll go through a point by point.

Dreadlord @ 240.0 Pts
     General
     Crimson Death
     Armour of Darkness
     Pendant of Khaeleth
     The Other Tricksters Shard

Your standard unkillable challenge lord.  He'll be babysitting the black guard unit for stubborn leadership 10 for as long as they are alive. He'll also challenge out things like Blender lords, princes, etc and hopefully able to do some damage with always str 6 no matter what, with armor piercing thanks to the black guard unit, and maybe an extra attack with the cauldron buff forcing your opponent to re-roll his ward saves

Supreme Sorceress @ 330.0 Pts
Magic Level 4; Lore of Shadow
     Talisman of Preservation
     Sacrificial Dagger

Your standard Get shadow spells, cast mindrazer, profit wizard with a bit of added protection

Death Hag @ 225.0 Pts
Poison Attacks; Cauldron of Blood; Frenzy; 2ndWeapon; Battle Standard Cauldron of Blood

Like other dark elf armies, I included back a cauldron of blood bsb for added support to my entire army.

Sorceress @ 185.0 Pts
Magic Level 2; Lore of Fire
     Dispel Scroll
     Ruby Ring of Ruin

The interesting part of the list. first off, she'll be sitting in the repeaters. Second, she's from the lore of fire..with a ruby ring that casts a basic version of the fireball spell... now, from my interpretation of the rules, I can cast the ruby ring's fireball at a unit, then the next fire spell I cast from her gets d3 added to the casting roll. plus having the option of multiple fireballs will really make an opponent think which one of them he wants to dispel. hell, a free fireball on one dice is always nice especially when it doesn't fuck up the wizards casting attempts.

15 Dark Elf Repeater Crossbowmen @ 165.0 Pts
Rptr Crossbow; Light Armour; Standard; Musician

lvl 2's babysitting unit. I took off the shields because I don't expect them to survive combat, and with a lot of str 4 and str 4 with armor piercing shots running around having a 180 point pew pew unit just didn't seem worth it.

30 Dark Elf Warriors @ 225.0 Pts
Spear; Light Armour; Shield; Standard; Musician;Lordling

Sorceress's bunker/mini combat unit since I can't play bunkers properly.

5 Dark Riders @ 117.0 Pts
Spear; Rptr Crossbow; Light Armour; Musician

5 Dark Riders @ 117.0 Pts
Spear; Rptr Crossbow; Light Armour; Musician

5 Harpies @ 55.0 Pts

The uber chaff!  with the dark riders able to do some pew pew and the harpies flying all over the place, I should be able to counter most death stars and have them fight on my terms.

5 Shades @ 85.0 Pts
     2ndWeapon; Rptr Crossbow
Scouts etc.

18 Black Guard @ 294.0 Pts
Halberd; Heavy Armour; Standard; Musician;Tower Master
     Banner of Murder [25.0]
The punch in this list. str 4 armor piercing attacks with the dreadlord general inside as well as a cauldron dedicated to keeping them alive and in fighting shape could cause havoc to an opponent without really being a death star.

5 Cold One Knights @ 161.0 Pts
     Lance; Heavy Armour; Shield; Standard
Banner of the Eternal Flame [10.0]

Flank chargers, throw into the side with my black guard against stuff with regen and smile.

Reaper Bolt Thrower @ 100.0 Pts
Reaper Bolt Thrower @ 100.0 Pts
For taking out chaff, and most annoying monsters at long range.

Total Army Cost: 2399.0

Now, how well will this list do? Well, on paper it seems to be solid. I'm hoping that I'll get to test it out and who knows, if I do really well without a hydra I might not even include one in my 2500 point list for october's redstone rumble!
