ROAD TO THE RUMBLE!
So, in my first offical blog post back from my hiatus I've decided to start a series of my own personal enjoyment. It's going to be called, THE ROAD TO THE RUMBLE!
If you don't already know please go like the rumble on facebook Redstone Rumble Facebook page
In this series, which is mostly going to be my lists and how much it changes through practice games leading up to the rumble. So, it's basically a typical list analysis but with the goal of having the best possible list for the rumble in october.
First off, There are a few guidelines for the tournament. No unit can be over 60 models, 500 points(excluding characters), and no special characters. Each game in the 2 day event will be based around missions, and a scoring unit will be classified as a full rank with a command model (or a unit with a banner, that's still being decided at this stage)

So, I've decided to go with the following lores, Metal, and death. Two reasons. one, Metal is more reliable at killing the big nasty gribblies like chicken knights etc. It also has a few spells in there that can be amazing, Glittering scales, and Enchanted blades as well as plague of rust and transmutation of lead. The whole lore is designed to be F. U armor (which, if you haven't noticed a theme in my army is what I struggle with)
The second lore, is the all time favorite of DEATH. The F. U. Character lore. With people playing even more hero hammer these days with all these monsters, I needed a lore that I could reliably attempt to kill generals and the likes. Blender lords shall fear as well as ethereal characters. It also has doom and darkness, the end all -3 leadership to take down all these stubborn units, and crown of command wielding units.
Next up, is the BSB. Your chuck norris holding a flag build. he's designed to charge into things, kick them in the face, and win. It's also a way to give me an effective 32" bsb reroll where I need it. (fly 10/20 and then 12' bubble)
Lastly, you have The Buff machine. In recent playtests this machine has been the bsb. I've decided against this because of my inability to roll a 4+ ward to save my life and got tired of playing on the razor edge every time my opponent shot something. This also makes the cauldron a little less of a threat when it comes to being shot at. Sure it's giving out buffs, but it's not worth 275 points when it dies(225 + 50 for being the bsb, or is it 100.. i forget)
Now, to break down the list into the next two elements:
Shooting base.
With 2 units of dark riders, 2 bolt throwers, and a unit of 17 repeater bowmen, that can put a lot of hurt onto someone (especially after they take a few plague of rusts and transmutation of lead to the face) their whole schtic is to weaken a target for the second element of my list to do its job.
Combat base.
The main combat blocks are the black guard, the knights, and the hydra. Spearmen can serve as a pseudo combat block when I need to (after hiding my level 4 of course) as well as the repeaters, but their main goal is to shoot hence why they are in the shooting section of these elements.
Harpies are the cheap throw away drop. If they live, bonus points, but if they sacrifice themselves to say pull a frenzied unit out of position for a flank charge it's all good.
Glaring flaws in the list.
NO DISPEL SCROLL.. yes, in this version of the list, I am running a dagger and a tome of furion as my arcane items on each of my two casters. this means no dispel scroll. My thinking is, any spell that I want to use my dispel scroll on I probably wont be able to, and plus the idea of just stabbing someone to push through say a final transmutation can be better. Granted, as of first draft there are going to be two missions where if you use more than x number of dice there's a chance you'll get hurt and as of right now, and this is going to be mainly an issue for things like little waaagh and the extra lizzy dice (if they still have it in their new book rumored in august) those extra dice count towards this limit. This could make me change the dagger for the dispel scroll, but time will tell as the rumble is 3 months away and hell, I could be looking at an entirely new book by then.
So, There you go, List 1. Hopefully I'll have some playtest games with this list soon and if it's looking like a winner, I wont have to change too much out of it.
