So, 3 days removed from the rumble, and I've been sitting here on army builder wondering where do I go from here.
I'm actually torn for once in my entire warhammer career. The Old dark elf book was, are you taking X unit, then take Y to support. Do you want to do this, then take Z.. With this new book, There's no clear cut Take X for core, take Y for special etc. The internet may be saying WE/Cauldron and Executioner hordes, but even those guys are slowly backing down from their initial love of those units. They aren't bad, it's just to easily dealt with..
I know I'm going to have to purchase some more models.. Executioners are on the list as well as another bolt thrower or two, but there's so many stuff I want to try and fit into a 2500 point list that I can't. I don't really want to shelve the black guard, but they need executioner support. Executioners are better than BG in this edition because of the meta, yet I still see the potential of re-rolling to hit with str 4 attacks. Then do I take a level 4 on a peg, do I not, do I take lore of life and the dagger... etc.
Do I continue to use what I have even tho I really don't want to go that route based on their performance in the recent tournament.. Do I go MSU...
I guess when it comes down to planning. I want a competitive build, that fits my play style, and can deal with everything that I struggle with, yet, I want something that can be fun for both myself and my opponent. Do I think the Witch elf, cauldron horde is fun? No, but it's competitive. hell, I'm even thinking of running a death hag with witch brew with an obsidian blade inside my corsairs to make them pseudo witch elves.. Will I end up having some witch elves in my lists? Yes, because of how each of the units in the book are now, Designed for a set roll and purpose. It's making it hard to really build a good "Batman" list ...
